goodbye, eddie

I was shocked this morning when one of my friends, who’s also a fan of World Wrestling Entertainment, texted and YM’d me that Eddie Guerrero, a.k.a. Latino Heat, is dead. You can also visit the official WWE site.

Eddie’s been one of my faves, a great athlete and a great entertainer, even in Ted Turner’s old World Championship Wrestling, before it was acquired by WWE.

They still don’t know the cause of his death — he was just found dead in his Minneapolis hotel room, with no signs of foul play.

Unfortunately, such mysterious deaths have been common among many pro wrestling superstars, and Eddie has been candid about his past battles with drug and alcohol abuse, though he’s supposedly been clean for the past four years.

Eddie is survived by three daughters — Shaul, 14, Sherilyn, 9, and Kaylie Marie, 3 — and his wife Vickie.

He was only 38.
